Our client is a publicly listed real estate investment trust established over 50 years ago. Its mission is to provide the highest level of service to its clients, and its legal team is seen as an integral part of achieving its goal. To support this vision, the legal team is looking to add another lawyer who can provide his/her expertise on commercial real estate matters. This role will report to the SVP, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary.
The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of commercial real estate experience gained at a major firm or corporation. Any corporate / commercial experience will be seen as an asset. You will be involved in real property acquisitions and divestitures and related financings, development and construction of properties and joint ventures, as well as leasing arrangements. The ability to run your own files independently is essential. Although the focus will be on real estate matters, you will also advise on general corporate and commercial matters. You must possess excellent communication and analytical skills and strong business acumen.
