Senior Counsel (Legal) (7– 12 years of Commercial IT experience)

With over 50 lawyers working from Toronto, Montreal, New York, Chicago, London and Hong Kong, CIBC Legal manages legal outcomes by providing a full range of legal and transactional support services to CIBC’s businesses worldwide. CIBC Legal is now looking for a Senior Counsel to provide support to CIBC’s Technology, Infrastructure
and Innovation and the Procurement teams. Legal works closely with these business groups, negotiating high end, complex agreements and providing strategic advice to solve challenging problems, address risk and protect the interests of the bank. This position reports to a Managing Counsel in Toronto.

The ideal candidate will have 7-12 years of Commercial IT experience gained at a major law firm or corporation. Experience working with a financial institution and with outsourcing, licensing, procurement, cloud or blockchain agreements will be an asset. Excellent negotiating and drafting experience and a genuine interest in technology is mandatory. Strong communication skills, the ability to lead projects and direct external counsel will be needed to succeed in this role.
