Norton Rose Fulbright is a leading international legal practice. With more than 3800 lawyers operating in over 50 offices, it offers a full business law service to many of the world’s pre-eminent financial institutions and corporations from offices in Europe, Asia, Australia, Canada, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and Central Asia and the United States.

The Banking and Finance team of its Toronto office has a long history advising a significant number of major banks, finance providers, credit agencies, corporate entities and other participants in the global banking and finance arena.  As part of the Banking and Finance team, the Structured Finance and Securitization subgroup represents a wide range of clients, including arrangers and lead managers, trustees, issuers, service providers and investors, in securitization, derivatives and other structured finance transactions.  It is one of only two firms in Canada with a dedicated covered bond practice, having been involved since inception of regulated covered bonds in the country.  It is also top ranked in League Tables for Debt Capital Markets transactions.  As a result of its success, the Banking and Finance team has experienced an increased demand for its services, and it is now looking to add a seasoned associate or counsel lawyer to join its group in Toronto, where the focus of your practice will be working on structured finance, securitization, derivatives, and other complex and innovative financing transactions, in addition to more traditional banking and lending transactions

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of significant experience in a banking and lending practice at a leading law firm or corporation.  Of particular interest would be prior experience working on asset-based lending, derivatives, securitization, and/or structured or project financing, but it is not required. You must have excellent academic credentials, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to build and foster excellent relationships with clients.

This role offers significant opportunities for career development and advancement as well as mentorship from a world-class group of professionals.  You will develop an expertise in a practice area that is in high demand, with very few specialists in Canada, and will help to run the practice as it continues to grow.  The work is complex and innovative, and the team is collegial and supportive.  If you would like to learn more about this opportunity, please contact Lorene Nagata or Lesa Ong of NagataConnex Executive Legal Search for a confidential discussion.
