Choice Properties’ portfolio of properties is internally managed, operated and led by an experienced management team with a strong understanding of the Canadian real estate sector. It is currently seeking a Leasing Lawyer to join its legal team, reporting directly to the VP, Legal. Your responsibilities will include handling all matters dealing with commercial leases, managing a team of lawyers and leasing clerks and providing general support to the business on leasing matters. Liaising between different business groups and departments within Choice, you will need to employ a dynamic work ethic. This position is located on the subway line at Yonge and St Clair, however, there is flexibility to work partially from home.
The ideal candidate will have 8-12 years of leasing experience gained from a law firm or in-house with a real estate company. General commercial real estate experience as well as experience with title searches will also be seen as an asset, but not a requirement. In order to succeed in this role, you will need to have exceptional written and communication skills, be organized, detail-oriented and have the ability to multi-task, prioritize and take initiative. As you will be managing a team, the ability to take a leadership role will be essential to succeed in this role as will internal motivation and engagement with the work.
