HOOPP continues to grow, both in size and complexity of its operations, and it is therefore seeking two Legal Counsel to join its legal division. Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, Corporate & Privacy, on the operations side of the business, the successful candidates will work as part of the legal team to provide legal advice and support to the organization on a wide range of matters, both strategic and operational.
Commercial IT (4-8 years):
This individual will work primarily in the areas of IT, including negotiating and drafting agreements and advising on data feeds, cybersecurity, and license compliance matters. The ideal candidate will have 4 – 8 years of IT commercial experience gained at a leading law firm or corporation. As the successful candidate will be expected to take a leadership role within the IT area and work closely with, advise and train the organization’s various business groups, they must possess excellent interpersonal and communications (both written and oral) skills and be a team player. Client-focused, strong business acumen and an analytical, yet practical, approach to the provision of legal advice and support are essential qualities for success.
Corporate / Commercial (3-6 years) – 18-month contract:
This individual will have a more general corporate / commercial practice with some other areas of law including IT contracts, commercial contracts, privacy, employment, governance and procurement. Working across the organization, this person will enjoy a variety of work and the opportunity to work with a broad range of business groups. The ideal candidate will have 3 – 6 years of corporate / commercial experience with the ability to negotiate, draft, advise and strategize.
