Wajax relies upon its legal team to deliver prompt, high quality legal guidance and support to business and functional teams. It is now looking to add another lawyer to this important team. You will work on a broad range of legal matters, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex commercial agreements, and provide support on matters relating to real estate and leasing, finance, IT, human resources, procurement and risk management. You will also oversee litigation and insurance claims and advise on insurance matters, as well as support other special projects as they arise. This position will report to the General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, and be based in Wajax’s corporate office in Mississauga, Ontario. Post-pandemic, there will be some flexibility to work remotely.
The ideal candidate will have 4 – 7 years of corporate/commercial experience gained at a reputable firm or corporation. Any experience in public company matters, procurement, corporate governance and/or M&A transactions would be an asset. Excellent drafting and analytical skills and business acumen is required. In addition, you should have the ability to think strategically and pragmatically and have excellent interpersonal skills, as you will be interacting with all levels of the business. French language proficiency would be an asset, though not required.
