Job Description – General Counsel Lawyer

Due to ongoing growth, Trulioo is seeking a well-rounded General Counsel to join its team. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the General Counsel will have overall responsibility and accountability for the legal department, including general corporate matters, transaction support, contract management, employment law, regulatory matters, risk management, and financing activities.

The role will be hands-on, leading a small team with a broad portfolio of responsibilities, including commercial agreement negotiations across a global customer base, understanding international data privacy standards, and managing corporate governance activities.  

As the preferred candidate, you will have at least ten years of corporate commercial law experience, including a minimum of three years practising in-house and a demonstrated track record of effectively managing a team. You must have a flexible and adaptable mindset and working style, as well as thrive in a fast-paced, start-up environment. Success in this position requires excellent communication skills, strong business acumen, sound judgement, and solid negotiation skills.

Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge

  • LL.B. or J.D. degree (or equivalent).
  • Good standing with a Canadian Law Society.

  • Flexible and adaptable mindset and working style.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, start-up environment.
