The Legal and Compliance departments at Weston Foods play an integral role in managing certain risks associated with its North American business operations and assisting the business groups achieve their goals. It is now seeking a top talent lawyer to join its team as the Director, Legal and Compliance. This individual will be responsible for advancing and overseeing compliance programs in the areas of competition law, privacy and anti-corruption. The candidate will also be responsible for select legal work including marketing / advertising, IP, commercial and litigation management. This is an excellent role for a talented lawyer who seeks the fusion of their business, legal and compliance experience. This position is located in Weston Foods’ head office in Etobicoke and will report to Weston Foods’ Vice President, General Counsel and Head of Compliance.
The ideal candidate will have 5-9 years of legal and compliance experience, ideally gained from both private practice and in-house roles. Privacy experience will be mandatory to succeed in this role. A practical, business-minded leader with strong communication skills, superior problem solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting are also required. It will be important that you are self-motivated, a “doer”, a strong project manager and adaptive with a positive attitude. As you will be working closely with a variety of business groups, excellent communication skills and diplomacy will also be required.
