There are many exciting changes happening at the GTAA. Recently it launched Pearson
LIFT, a capital plan spanning more than a decade, representing significant investment into
Toronto Pearson’s facilities aimed at preparing Canada’s largest airport for the challenges and
opportunities of the coming years and beyond. The GTAA has a well-developed and high-
functioning Legal Department and is now seeking a Senior Legal Counsel who will take a
leadership role in the GTAA’s corporate / commercial and operations matters. This individual
will work closely with the business teams and executive management advising and negotiating
major commercial contracts, delivering compliance and regulatory monitoring programs,
enhancing accountability to the company’s rules and regulations, advising on a variety of
corporate/commercial matters and overseeing litigation management. In addition, this career
growth role will allow you to take a leadership role in mentoring and developing people. This
hybrid position, is located at Toronto Pearson (accessible from downtown via Union Pearson
Express) and will report to the Chief Legal Officer.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of corporate / commercial experience
gained from a well-respected law firm and in-house role. Experience negotiating and drafting
commercial contracts, working within a regulated industry and advising on compliance / risk
will be required. Experience with litigation management, stakeholder relations and aviation
law will also be of interest. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, as well as the
demonstrated ability to build relationships with the business groups and manage a team will
also be key components of success. This individual will need to be self-motivated, have an
improvement mindset and the ability to juggle competing projects and interests.
