ASSOCIATE LEGAL COUNSEL, INVESTMENTS (3-4 years experience)

HOOPP continues to grow, both in size and complexity of its operations, and it is therefore seeking an Associate Legal Counsel, Investments, to join its legal department on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Legal Counsel, Investments, the successful candidate will be responsible for researching, drafting, reviewing, amending, negotiating, and providing legal support and advice on various investments and associated documents. This individual will support the Investment Management, Investment Finance, and Risk teams with respect to a wide range of investments and regulations and will identify and manage investment legal risk. This person will also assist with providing legal support on projects, strategic initiatives, and the implementation of new policies and procedures.

HOOPP is seeking a highly motivated, self-confident individual who takes a practical approach to providing legal advice and has an interest in learning and growing with the organization through mentorship and continuing education. The ideal candidate will have 3-4 years of legal experience in public or private markets investment transactions gained at a leading law firm or as in-house counsel, with at least 2 years of private practice experience. Any experience with securities laws, corporate finance, fixed income, investment funds, or infrastructure will be an asset. As the successful candidate will be expected to work with and advise the Investment Management, Investment Finance, and Risk groups, they must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral) and be a team player. Client-focused, strong business acumen and the ability to juggle competing interests are essential qualities for success in this results-oriented organization.
