The Bank, which has been identified as an increasingly important part of the Rogers strategy, is one of the major priorities of Rogers as it moves forward.
In its continued growth, the Bank is now seeking a senior lawyer to join its legal team. The Bank’s legal department plays a significant role in its strategic growth plan. Providing support to all levels of the Bank, this individual will advise and provide strategic advice on a broad range of matters including product launches, retail and regulatory matters and customer facing agreements. This position will report to the General Counsel of the Bank and will be located in midtown Toronto, at Rogers’ head offices. Post pandemic, a hybrid work arrangement will be available.
The ideal candidate will have 12 – 16 years of credit card or retail banking experience gained from a major law firm or financial institution. Comprehensive knowledge of the Bank Act (including the requirements of the new Financial Consumer Protection Framework) and familiarity with key regulators will be needed to succeed in this role. Any experience in fintech and / or privacy will also be of interest. A poised, confident demeanor will be required as this person will be interacting with and advising the Bank’s C-suite and have exposure to the Board. As the Bank is in growth mode, Rogers is looking for a candidate who is an innovator and entrepreneurial, with the ability to eventually take a greater leadership role in the Bank’s legal department.
